BUSINESS AREA
The Oncology Data Science – Data, Analytics, and AI Platforms (ODSP) team comprises multiple groups across the Cambridge UK, Boston MA, Gaithersburg MD, Barcelona ES, and Munich DE sites. ODSP develops technology, software, and data infrastructure to advance our Oncology data science. Our vision is to evolve data science into a driver of innovation within Oncology. We do this by creating a strategic culture that values our data as
a valid business asset, organizing our data so that it’s
accessible and easy to find, integrated, and re-usable for Humans & AI, and building the best data computational tools to
support scientific decision making.
What You’ll Do
Primarily responsible for the product ownership and leading the development of the full stack digital pathology platform developed in-house, working with users, software providers, multiple AstraZeneca departments, and internal software engineering and operations teams to ensure an innovative, scalable, and integrated portfolio of digital pathology software products for our users.
The Oncology Data Science Platform group comprises multiple teams across the Cambridge UK, Boston MA, Gaithersburg MD, Barcelona ES, and Munich DE sites. The accountabilities of the group span pre-clinical and early clinical data strategy, multi-omics, and imaging-based production informatics for Oncology Discovery, Translational Medicine, and Early Clinical portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Connect with customers and identify and formulate the problems we will solve.
- Is the user representative and voice of the user for the product development team and promotes direct feedback from internal and external users to the product team
- Designs and prioritizes product capabilities and defines user stories and their acceptance criteria
- Designs, evaluates, and manages product strategy and delivery roadmaps for the managed products to realize technology and business strategy
- Works closely with other product owners to embed machine learning applications into our digital pathology software stack
- Defines success for the managed products, ideally by defining measurable metrics, monitoring, and reporting to management and teams
- Defines statements of work and release timelines and organizes software deployment with internal software operations teams
- Works with data operations team to fit data flow and data provisioning schemes into the managed products and to ensures data governance policies are met
- Grow user base by establishing comprehensive documentation, manual writing, and conducting software training and support
- Actively contribute to ODS’s fun and innovative culture, bring your authentic self, take time for community, celebrate the diversity of thought and identity, take risks, and accept failures.
Education, Qualifications, Skills, And Experience
Essential for the role:
- Master’s degree in natural or engineering sciences
- Experience in the bioimaging background with knowledge of major types of digital pathology imaging (brightfield, immunofluorescence, multiplex whole slide imaging)
- Good understanding of technology infrastructure for large-scale image and data analysis computing
- Ability to work in a global, highly matrixed environment
- Desire to be curious and challenge standard practices
- Stakeholder communication and management
- Experience in agile methodology, especially scrum
Desirable for the role:
- Knowledge in (immune) oncology
- Knowledge of drug development (processes)
- Product development experience
- Software development experience
- Knowledge of business analytics
- Knowledge of CDx development processes
- Understanding of image annotation tools or workflows
